Abstract

ABSTRACT

Low Birth Weight (LBW) is one of the leading causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a non-pharmacological intervention that is effective in improving the physiological condition of infants, including weight gain. This study aims to analyze the effect of the KMC method on weight gain in LBW infants.

This study employed a quantitative design with a quasi-experimental approach (pretest-posttest with control group). A total of 60 LBW infants were divided into two groups: the intervention group (KMC) and the control group. Data were analyzed using a t-test.

The results showed a significant increase in body weight in the KMC group compared to the control group (p < 0.001). In conclusion, the KMC method is effective in increasing the weight of LBW infants and is recommended as part of neonatal care.
